High Pressure vs Traditional Dust Collectors
Whether the air is clean or dust-filled, all air has mass. As it moves, friction slows it down.
The total resistance within this airflow is called static pressure (SP), typically measured in inches of water column (WC).
Traditional Collectors
Traditional dust collectors are designed to move high volumes of air at low pressure. They perform best with larger ducting and shorter runs.
High-Pressure Collectors
High-pressure systems operate at significantly higher static pressure (up to 97.8" WC), allowing them to handle longer duct runs and smaller diameter piping with minimal performance loss.
Which One Should You Choose?
If your setup includes long duct runs, multiple machines, or limited space for large ducting, a high-pressure system is typically the better choice.
For larger open shops with short, straight duct runs, traditional collectors can still perform effectively.
